NOTICE OF RACE

1. RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the 2001-2004 Racing Rule of Sailing
(RRS), the prescriptions of US SAILING, and the Team Racing Rules
(Appendix D), except as any of these are altered by the Sailing
instructions.
2. BOATS
2.1 Boats will be provided to all teams registered before Thursday,
March 13, 2003. If you are not registered by this time and you wish to
compete you will have to provide one boat for your team.
3. TEAMS
3.1 Each competing team shall consist of three skippers, three crews.
Teams are free to bring alternates and replacements which may be
substituted between races.
3.2 The regatta will be limited to twelve complete team race teams.
4. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1 Completed entry forms (see attached) are due to Quentin Pollock no
later than Thursday, March 13, 2003. Send via fax 415-435-4794 or email
at sfycyouth@aol.com. One check for the entry fee ($10 per competitor)
payable to the San Francisco Yacht must filed with regatta personnel
before the competitor's meeting on Saturday, March 15th.
6. FEES
6.1 An entry fee of $10 will apply to each competitor. The entry fee
will include instruction before the regatta on Saturday morning and at
the debrief on Saturday afternoon. A sack lunch will be provided.
6.2 Competitors will be required to pay their share of damage caused by
collisions, as deemed appropriate by the protest committee.
7. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
7.1 Saturday, March 15
9:00 a.m. Registration & boat assembly (@ Youth Sailing area)
10:00 a.m. Competitor's Meeting
4:00 p.m. No race started after 4:00 p.m.
5:00 p.m. Refreshments, debrief and brief trophy presentation
8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
8.1 Sailing Instructions will be available upon registration at the
public launch.
9. FORMAT
9.1 Subject to weather conditions, competitors will engage in a
continuous round robin with no limit to the number of races. There will
be no separate championship series, and there will be rotation of boats.
Weaker teams may be augmented by coach participation as deemed
appropriate by the race committee. The race committee will endeavor to
get as many races off as possible offering the greatest exposure to team
racing possible.
10. RACING AREA AND COURSE
10.1 A triangle-windward course will be set.
11. SCORING
11.1 Scoring will be in accordance with Appendix D, except as modified
by the Sailing Instructions.
12. COACHING
12.1 Coaching will be allowed between races, on or off the water. There
will be no coaching during the races.
13. PROTESTS
13.1 Races will be officiated by the competitors and by on-the-water
judging by selected regatta personnel.
13.2 Protests not covered by competitor exoneration or by on-the-water
judging will be heard as soon as possible by a coach or committee of
coaches. Protests will be determined by "60 second justice", each
competitor having "30 seconds" to explain her position to an officiate
and the decision coming immediately thereafter.
13.3 Decisions made by on the water judges and by 60 second justice are
final.
