1. Rules
The regatta will be governed by the 2001-2004 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of US Sailing, the ISSA procedural Rules, the PCISA amended rules, the rules of the CFJ Class (except as any of these are altered by these Sailing Instructions) and by these Sailing Instructions.

2. Eligibility, Entry & Entry Fee
The regatta is open all PCISA member schools. Schools must enter by filing an entry with SBYC by Wednesday, March 20th 2002. An entry fee of $35 per team will apply. Make checks payable to SBYC. A $25 fee will be assessed for late registration forms. Fees may be paid on the 23rd with no penalty if your forms are in by March 20th.

3. Format
Gold Fleet will consist of A&B Divisions in accordance with ISSA and PCISA Regulations. Silver Fleet and JV will consist of A & B Divisions. Each team will consist of two skippers and two crews, plus alternates if desired.

4. Boats
Each team is responsible for providing one class legal CFJ, which will be placed into a Round Robin Rotation. Sails will be provided by the PCISA. A limited number of charter boats are available from UCSB. Please contact Brent Harrill at Brentharrill@hotmail.com for info.

6. Sailing Instructions
Sailing Instructions will be available at registration at the Launching ramp.

7. Racing Area
Racing area will be approximately .5 nautical miles off of Sterns Wharf.

8. Coaching
All coaching will be done from an area designated at the skippers meeting. Any spectators of the water shall have no contact with any competitor except when rendering assistance under RRS Rule 1.1, or as instructed by the Race Committee.

9. Scoring
The low-point Scoring System, Rule A2, will apply. A full Rotation is scheduled, of which 3 races shall be completed to constitute a series. Each yacht’s total score will be the sum of her scores for all races.

10. Safety
US Coast Guard approved PFDs shall be worn at all times on the water. If the race committee or Jury determines that any competitor is not experienced enough for the conditions, or not wearing sufficient apparel for the conditions, and their safety is jeopardized as a result, those competitors may be required to return to shore.

11. Trophies
Trophies will be awarded to teams placing 1st through 4th in each fleet.

12. Accomodations and Housing
There are many reasonably priced motels and hotels a close distance from the yacht club. A complete directory is linked through the SBYC internet site at www.sbyc.org.

13.Directions
From the south, 101 North, left exit off freeway Cabrillo St. Follow along water. Take a left at the light, onto Harbor Way. You will have to pay to park for the day.
From the north, 101 South, exit Castillo take a right and follow to water. Take a right on Cabrillo, follow above directions.
